Bi-Partisan Medicaid & Help Link
COMPLETING THE TASKS THAT BOTH PARTIES AGREE TO
In 2015 the Medicaid expansion was passed through the legislature with bipartisan support. It proved crucial for providing healthcare coverage for working Montanans and eventually covered almost 10% of our state’s population. The HELP-Link program associated with the Medicaid expansion provided people the tools needed to get themselves jobs that paid benefits including health insurance.
The HELP-Link program expanded Montana’s labor force while the Medicaid expansion created over 5,000 jobs in the healthcare industry and saved our critical access hospitals and rural health clinics from closure.
In 2019 the expansion was continued, but without guaranteed funding. Continuation of the expansion must now be ensured going forward.
With good organization and fiscal transparency good programs that help Montana can be even better.
